Ongoing Initiatives:
School Books/Supplies Shipping Program
This is the original program of our organization and was designed to get out–of-use textbooks in the Industrialized World to children and schools in need in the Developing World. Since then we have shipped 200+ textbooks which will help over 1,000 children learn math, science, history, etc.
We have also expanded this program to include school supplies and we were able to send 200+ notebooks and hundreds of pens and pencils to schoolchildren displaced by the fighting in Iraq. Although this seems like a small gift, generally less than two dollars per child, it is often the one thing standing between them and at least some sort of education.
Build or Refurbish a School
Our next program is to help to build or refurbish a school by summer 2010. This could also include putting in plumbing or solar power to ensure clean water or consistent electricity.
Send Teachers to Teach at Refugee Camps
Our most ambitious, longest-term goal is to provide a teacher with the necessary support to be able to go to a refugee camp and teach a number of subjects to children who would otherwise go without an education.
